The Charleston Tea Plantation, America’s ONLY tea garden, is pleased to offer you an experience that is not only educational but more importantly one-of-a-kind.   Located on picturesque Wadmalaw Island in the heart of the Lowcountry, the Charleston Tea Plantation is home to American Classic Tea. 

Come experience the beauty and charm...View acres and acres of breathtaking tea plants as far as the eye can see, learn first-hand how tea is made during an informative Factory Tour, take an enjoyable Trolley Ride through the tea fields and help yourself to all of the iced American Classic Tea you can drink.

Factory Tour:

The Bigelow’s themselves, via flat screen televisions, guide you down a glass tourway overlooking the factory.  You will learn about the history of tea, the harvesting and  production of our own American Classic Tea, and the story of the Charleston Tea Plantation.

Trolley Tour:

Enjoy a scenic ride around our 127 acre farm.  The Tour is narrated by William Barclay Hall, our founder and world renowned Tea Taster.  He will educate you about the history of America’s ONLY tea garden while challenging you and your knowledge of tea.

Also, be sure to stop by our charming Plantation Gift Shoppe!  Here you can purchase numerous varieties of American Classic Tea-some to take home for yourself or to share with a friend!  In addition, you will find a unique assortment of tea accessories and souvenirs. 

Seasonal Guide:

Spring: The harvest season begins in the month of May.  This is commemorated annually by a celebration known as the First Flush FesTEAval.  Tea lovers from all over gather at the Plantation for a unique and fun experience that features local artists, lots of tasty foods, games for the kids, live music and all of the iced American Classic Tea that one can drink.

Summer: The harvesting and production processes are in full swing.

Fall:  Harvesting ends around the end of September/beginning of October.  During this time of year the tea plants (camellia sinensis) begin to bloom.

Winter: Even though the harvesting season is over you can still experience the workings of the farm.  The plants may be resting, but the atmosphere is still full of energy!

Operates year round, Monday - Saturday 10:00 am - 4:00 pm and Sunday from Noon - 4:00 pm.
